Lingkup Pembahasan:
Bagian I, Dasar-dasar Praktek Forensik, membahas isu-isu mendasar untuk ilmu pengetahuan dan praktek psikologi forensik dan psikiatri. Isu ini relevan dengan setiap konsultasi forensik dan diberi prioritas tertinggi dalam teks ini. Bab 1 memberikan kerangka klinis dan hukum untuk praktek forensik dan memperkenalkan bab yang tersisa. Bab 2 memeriksa potensi berpura-pura sakit dan respon gaya lainnya, yang menawarkan wawasan ke dalam langkah terakhir dalam konsultasi forensik, yaitu kesaksia ruang sidang. Dengan berfokus pada hasil, baik pengacara dan ahli dapat lebih menghargai bagaimana untuk melanjutkan dalam menangani masalah kesehatan mental di kasus kriminal.
Bagian II, Isu khusus Forensik, sejajar dengan sistem peradilan pidana. Bab 4 dan 5 alamat masalah praperadilan, termasuk (1) hiburan dengan sistem kesehatan mental, (2) faktor psikologis yang mempengaruhi penentuan jaminan, (3) pengabaian hak-hak Miranda, dan (4) pengabaian pencarian dan hak sita. Tiga bab beri tertentu kutnya yang dikhususkan untuk masalah sidang. Mereka termasuk (a) Bab 6, memeriksa kompetensi untuk diadili dan kompetensi pengadilan lainnya, (2) Bab 7 dan 8, mengatasi pertahanan kegilaan dan isu-isu lain dari tanggung jawab pidana. Hukuman masalah, baik non capital dan modal, akan dibahas dalam Bab 9. akhir tujuan dua bab masalah posttrial, seperti kompetensi yang akan dieksekusi atau untuk meninggalkan vonis pembebasan (Bab 10) dan predator seksual (Bab 11).
