Buku ini mengemukakan berbagai perihal berkaitan dengan praktek transplantasi hati yang terus berkembang. Baru-baru ini telah terjadi peningkatan perhatian pada perkembangan baru seperti Model stadium akhir penyakit hati (MELD) sistem stratifikasi potensial penerima, serta isu retransplantation dalam konteks terbatas donor organ dan masalah yang berkaitan erat dengan kekambuhan hati asli terhadap penyakit di graft hati. Meskipun prinsip-prinsip dasar perawatan medis untuk
pasien transplantasi hati tidak berubah. Pada buku edisi ketiga ini, telah memasukkan beberapa dari topikal isu dan telah menambahkan penulis baru dari beberapa negara. Tujuannya tetap untuk memberikan kepada kedua transplantasi dan dokter non transplantasi bingkai acuan untuk pengelolaan pasien yang memikirkan atau yang telah mengalami transplantasi hati.
Buku ini terdiri atas 6 Bagian. Bagian 1 mengemukakan masalah Pengelolaan Potensi Penerima Transplantasi terdiri atas 13 Bab. Bagian 2 Manajemen Periode perioperatif terdiri atas 9 babm Bagian 3
mengemukakan Masalah Medis Penerima Transplantasi kronis, terdiri atas 6 Bab. Bagian 4 Membahas tentang Pengomabatan, terdiri atas 2 Bab. Bagian 5 membahas masalah Pediatric Transplantasi Hati, hanya terdiri atas 1 bab, dan Bagiab 6 mengemukakan tentang Transplantasi Hati di Masa Depan. Bagian ini terdiri atas 1 Bab saja.
