Penulis:
Michael Parkin adalah Profesor Emeritus di Departemen Ekonomi University of Western Ontario, Kanada. Profesor Parkin  diangkat dan mengajar di Brown University, University of Manchester, Universitas Essex, dan Bond University. Dia adalah mantan presiden Canadian Economics Association dan telah bertugas di dewan redaksi  American Economic Review  dan  Journal of Monetary Economics dan sebagai managing editor Canadian Journal of Economics. Penelitian Profesor Parkin berfokus pada ekonomi makro, ekonomi moneter, dan ekonomi internasional telah menghasilkan lebih dari 160 diedit  dan dipublikasikan dalam jurnal dan volume, termasuk American Economic Review, the Journal of Political Economy, the Review of Economic Studies, the Journal of Monetary Economics, and the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking. Ia  paling menonjol dan paling dikenal dengan karyanya pada inflasi yang mendiskreditkan penggunaan kendali upah dan harga. Michael Parkin juga mempelopori gerakan menuju kesatuan moneter Eropa. Lingkup Pembahasan:
Buku ini terdiri atas 15 Bab. Hubungan antar bab telah diatur sedemikian rupa sehingga diharapkan buku ini dapat menyajikan materi lebih  jelas dan mudah dipelajari.  Dalam edisi ini beberapa bab telah benar-benar dikerjakan ulang untuk mencakup isu-isu baru, terutama yang melibatkan masalah kebijakan. Perubahan ini bertujuan untuk lebih baik dan memungkinkan siswa untuk belajar bagaimana menggunakan toolkit ekonomi untuk menganalisis keputusan mereka sendiri dan memahami peristiwa dan masalahyag dihadapi. Isu-isu saat mengatur setiap bab. Berita  tentang peristiwa ekonomi utama saat ini mengikat masing-masing bab bersama-sama. Masing-masing bab mencakup diskusi tentang isu kritis untuk menunjukkan bagaimana teori ekonomi dapat diterapkan untuk mengeksplorasi perdebatan tertentu atau pertanyaan.
