Pertama, untuk memodernisasi dan memperbarui isi yang diperlukan, dan kedua, untuk berpegang pada standar yang dipertahankan selama delapan puluh tahun oleh Editor sebelumnya, Lionel S. Marks dan Theodore Baumeister.
Para editor telah menemukan instruktif untuk lembaran melalui edisi pertama Handbook Marks '
